My Skincare Routine

Unlike other countries, Philippines is a tropical country with only 2 seasons; wet(rainy) and dry(summer). But most of the time, Philippines is on “summer mode” so imagine the sacrifices our skin has to bear every single day while commuting or while working under the scorching heat. Hah! Thank goodness for free air-conditioned rooms in the office.

It was early this year when I found about skincare routine. Haha. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean I don’t take care of my skin or my hygiene is a duff, it’s just that I don’t put anything on my face because I’m afraid of any breakouts. Before I discover these products, I only use water and soap for my face. I honestly have zero idea what a cleanser or a toner is.

What got me curious was the numerous blog posts/tweets about Korean Skincare Products. Koreans are known for their smooth and flawless skin because they know their products really well. So I asked few friends on Twitter what are the basic steps/products they can recommend for a first timer like me.

Currently, these are the products that I use for my face. I don’t have the energy and patience to do the 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine so I opted for the simplest/easiest I could get. I just cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturize. That’s all. But I sometimes use face mask when I ain’t feeling lazy. On my 1st trial, I bought products from Celeteque. Note: I have dry to normal skin.

For Cleanser, these are the products that I’ve already tried:

After bath, I wash my face with Dove soap. Then, cleanse it with Celeteque Hydration Facial Wash. This is my 1st ever cleanser/facial wash and I have to admit that it really made some changes on my skin. I felt like it became cleaner and softer than before. I use this every day, after bath and before bed.

I ran out of it already so I tried a new one so I could check which one’s perfect for my skin. I tried the Liquid Neutrogena and I think I’m going back to Celeteque once this is finished. This doesn’t make much improvements on my skin plus it irritates my eyes easily. (Mabilis sya makahilam).

After Cleanse, I exfoliate my skin. I only do this every other day as instructed. I’ve read that it’s not recommended to exfoliate every day but could be depends on your skin. I use Celeteque Gentle Exfoliating Facial Wash. I didn’t see any massive advances on my skin except that it became smoother. I use this before bed only.

Once I’m done with exfoliating my skin, I move on with the Toner. I tone every day, after bath and before bed.

At first I used the Celeteque Alcohol-Free Toner and I swear to the good heaven, I’ve never felt my skin this soft and smooth. I really love it. It’s alcohol-free and it doesn’t sting.

I already finished my 1st bottle so I tried a new one since I’m still on the hunt for the perfect product combination for my skin. Currently, I’m using Deep Clean Cooling Toner from Neutrogena. On my first application, I felt a burning sensation that lasted for 3-5 minutes. I’m not sure if this toner doesn’t suit my skin type or it’s just that strong. For the result, it’s still good. It minimize my pores and smoothens my skin. Note: If you’d like to try this one, make sure you’re in front of electric fan or aircon when you apply it else it'll really be painful. I also don't recommend this if you have sensitive skin.

Now, for the last part, I moisturize my skin with these products:

My 1st ever moisturizer was Celeteque Facial Moisturizer with Triple Moisturizing System. I have no words for Celeteque products as it really does the work. I use this every day after tone. This moisturizer is so far a fave. It makes my skin feel softer and fresher. It’s also a lot easier to apply powder after moisturizing your face.

Since I only bought the smallest tube for my trial, I finished my moisturizer after a few weeks. I started looking for a new product to try and this Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel has been the talk of the town. I heard this moisturizer produces some magic, so yes, I gave it a shot. I saw this product available in Althea Korea app for only P180 excluding shipping fee. I have to admit, this product is worth the hype. I didn’t feel any irritation upon initial usage. It soothes my skin perfectly and this can also be used as hair gel. Plus the quantity is massive for the price you are paying. I’m choosing this over the Celeteque moisturizer.

If I'm feeling extra, I sometimes use peeling mask or blackheads strips. But I rarely do since it’s quite messy to apply. Haha. You do this after cleanser/exfoliate and before toner.

For blackhead remover, I use Pilaten Pore Strip. I guess most of you is already familiar with this one as it seems to be the famous blackhead remover everyone’s talking about. I’ve tried this several times but I wasn’t that satisfied with the result. However I heard pretty good feedbacks about this and I didn't encounter any irritation so don't hesitate to try but first, RESEARCH. One pack can cover your entire face but I’m not sure if it’s recommended for face application though.

Unlike Pilaten, this BeautyFix Peel-Off Mask offers whitening formula and pore minimizer. I’ve only tried this a couple of times because I am that lazy but no doubt this one’s a must have. Once peeled, you’ll instantly have a fair, soft, smooth and glowing skin. But take note that it’ll be kinda painful if you're quite hairy. Haha. I’ll choose this one over Pilaten as this has more to offer. And I also like the result this product has given me.

Before I learned about these products, I always get breakouts whenever I’m about to have my period or every time I eat peanuts. But now, I don’t even have to worry about pimples because I no longer get any. I’m so happy with these products!

And this concludes my daily skincare routine. What about you? What’s your skincare routine? :)
